PSPad is a freeware programmer’s editor for Microsoft Windows operating systems, useful for people who:

work with various programming environments

PSPad beta versions are published in the discussion forum. You can download them without any restrictions, test new program functions and have bugs corrected before the full release is available.

PowerPad is a lightweight text editor with a few extra features such as a toolbar,
auto-indent, and the capability of loading files larger than 64 KB.

The most current release is version 1.0.3
This version is now available to the public.

Crimson Editor – Free Source Code Editor

Crimson Editor is a professional source code editor for Windows.

This program is not only fast in loading time, but also small in size (so small that it can be copied in one floppy disk).

While it can serve as a good replacement for Notepad, it also offers many powerful features for programming languages such as HTML, C/C++, Perl and Java.

Features of Crimson Editor Edit multiple documents
- switch between documents using file selection tab.
- Ctrl+Tab brings the last accessed document to topmost.
- support window splitter to see different parts of a document.

Syntax highlighting
- configurable via custom syntax files.

NotePad++ Free Source Code Editor

Notepad++ is a free (as in “free speech” and also as in “free beer”) source code editor and Notepad replacement that supports several languages. Running in the MS Windows environment, its use is governed by GPL Licence.

Based on a powerful editing component Scintilla, Notepad++ is written in C++ and uses pure Win32 API and STL which ensures a higher execution speed and smaller program size. By optimizing as many routines as possible without losing user friendlyness, Notepad++ is trying to reduce the world carbon dioxide emissions. When using less CPU power, the PC can throttle down and reduce power consumption, resulting in a greener environment.

This project is mature. However, there may be still some bugs and missing features that are being worked on. If you have any questions or suggestions about this project, please post them in the forums. Also, if you wish to make a feature request, you can post it there as well. But there’s no guarantee that I’ll implement your request.

You’re encouraged to translate Notepad++ into your native tongue if there’s not already a translation present in the Download Section. And if you want, help translating Notepad++ official site into your native tongue would be greatly appreciated.
